The disaster started in the 11th minute with the first of seven German goals. Yes, 7 (the number after 6) goals in a single match. The Germans pursued a Brazil team missing their top striker and top defender without hesitation (as they should have). It payed off in spades as they had accumulated a 5-goal lead before half time. The fallout from Brazil’s first home loss in 12 years will be astronomical. Congrats to Germany who head to the finals.

It was a 4th of July match to remember with superb performances by Brazil and Colombia. The Brazilians got off to an early lead with a goal from a corner kick by Silva in the 7th minute. The second half saw two more goals from each side. The first was off a brilliant freekick from defender, David Luiz, giving Brazil a 2-0 lead. A foul in the penalty box gave Colombia the chance to score in the 80th minute. Colombian superstar James scored the shot giving them the chance to equalize if the could score again. Brazil denied them the opportunity sending the Colombian team home. Brazil now move to the semifinals to face Germany.

From there on out, the game was played defensively by both teams: Germany hoping to hold the lead while France wanting to deny further opportunities to Germany. Ultimately, France would be given few goal scoring opportunities by Germany and would head home after the 1-0 loss.

US Green gave their side 1 goal, but they were unable to equalize in time.
