A great start to the July 4th weekend with a World Cup match between two titans of international soccer, France and Germany. An early goal in the 13th minute by defender Hummels allowed a 1-0 lead for Germany. From there on out, the game was played defensively by both teams: Germany hoping to hold the lead while France wanting to deny further opportunities to Germany. Ultimately, France would be given few goal scoring opportunities by Germany and would head home after the 1-0 loss.
