A rather one sided-game today between Germany and Algeria, but a well-fought one by Algeria. German possession weighed in at a whopping 78% for the 120 minute period. They managed 22 shots with 16 on target. In spite of this, Algeria kept them scoreless for 90 minutes forcing overtime. In the 2nd minute of overtime, Schurrle connected and scored for Germany. Two more goals would follow, one from each side. Ultimately, Algeria would succumb to the German onslaught. Germany face France in the quarterfinals.
